Better Bin Stores

In most cases, the waste collection company charges per bin lift and bills the management company every month.
The charge to lift a residual/general waste bin is about twice as expensive as a Dry/Mixed Recycling bin.

The waste collection charges are then added to the management fee each year, which in turn will be added to the rent for tenants.

In addition to the weekly waste collections, management companies often pay hundreds or thousands of Euros to remove bulky waste that is dumped in the bins stores. This cost is also shared evenly across all the apartments.

First off, avoid the costs/penalties of a poorly run bin store. These are:- A messy bin store - some collection companies charge an excess fee if there are bags on the ground. You have to look at your bills.- Poor recycling - The collection cost of a recycling bin is roughly 50% that of a general waste bin.- Crushing cardboard - a cardboard large box, not flattened, can take up a whole general waste bin (that’s roughly €30 to get rid of one box!)- Bulky waste - regular collections of bulky waste really add up.Our signage can help with all of the above.

Some people think that the item they no longer want is too good to go in the general waste bin. So they put it in the Recycling bin or leave it on the ground beside the bins. Please don't do this. Take whatever it is (a toy, a fish tank, a framed painting) to a charity shop.

No! The management company usually has to organise for these type of items to be removed from the bin store. It is very expensive to arrange. The bulky items can also block other people from using the bins. Please don't do this.
Why not list it for free on donedeal, adverts.ie or bring it to a charity shop.

Good question but every development has a different schedule for the different bins. You will need to ask the management company.

This is a real problem, especially for the old and the disabled.
The bins used in apartment blocks are generally commercial bins. No thought has been given to how heavy the lids are.

Children should not use the bin store unaccompanied. There must be an adult with them.
The bins are large commercial bins with heavy lids. It's not suitable for a child.
